Social Commitment
Community, solidarity, empathy are key words inspiring our way of being and acting.
We are close to communities and the local area in our daily activities. The attention we pay to the community over time has also resulted in social initiatives, in the name of solidarity.
The aid we offer ranges from the initial reception of people in need, to the distribution of food and access to medical care, which has required a growing commitment following the pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine.
Between 2015 and 2023 the amount allocated to donations was equal to 562,000 euros.
Emergency fundraising: during the period of the Covid emergency, in 2020, the Group set up a fundraiser with the participation of personnel who donated the equivalent of 2,592 hours of work to the non-profit organisations Fondazione Banco Alimentare Onlus and L'Altra Napoli Onlus, to help individuals and families in financial hardship. The amount raised was doubled with a donation from the shareholders of the Bank and the directors of the group companies.
With the outbreak of war in Ukraine, in 2022, we organised a fundraiser to support a project involving the initial reception of Ukrainian refugees – including many children and sick people – managed by the Community of Sant’Egidio. Subsequently, still in association with the Community of Sant’Egidio, a food collection was organised for Ukrainians.
Scientific research: we have been participating for several years in initiatives of the Veronesi Foundation, involving our offices, branches and customers to help raise funds for research and the fight against childhood cancers.
The health of our neighbours: we support voluntary sector organisations working to help poor people who need care and hospitality in housing facilities that welcome them during periods of therapy away from home
At the headquarters of the general management offices in Rome, blood collection days are organised annually together with AVIS - Associazione Volontari Italiani del Sangue (Association of Italian blood donation volunteers), with strong response from colleagues.
We join the Komen Italia Prevention Caravan, an association at the forefront of the fight against breast cancer, to help people in difficulty access free medical services.
Local initiatives: through sponsorships, we try to encourage the values and principles shared by the Group, especially by emphasising the social, inclusive and educational value of sport for the various generations and especially for young people.
Financial knowledge: between 2014 and 2022, several editions of second-level Masters degrees in Economics and Banking were promoted and financed to encourage the specialist training of young people, by providing bursaries for postgraduates and undergraduates and extending the possibility of applying for them to Group employees. The initiatives were organised with Link Campus University and with the Luiss Guido Carli University (School of European Political Economy). The total investment made was Euro 728,000.
Work-life balance: IBL Banca Group has set up internal initiatives aimed at promoting good work-life balance and the well-being of employees, such us the creation of a company play area, which also welcomes the children and grandchildren of employees during school holidays, and the organization of yoga and Pilates courses at the head offices.
On-going training: to ensure innovative and quality services, IBL Banca Group staff participate in training and development sessions, including in the area of sustainability. In 2023, 23,538 hours of training were provided – of which 66 hours on ESG – at all levels, involving employees, middle managers and executives.
The chart below shows how the resources dedicated to training have progressively grown over time, achieving excellent results in terms of hours provided and skills achieved by personnel.
In 2022, the Group also launched IBL Academy, a new digital platform entirely dedicated to staff training and self-development.
Diversity and inclusion: the Group has also adopted a Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Gender equality. The IBL Banca Banking Group recognises that respect for diversity, inclusion and the protection of work-life balance are fundamental principles for the creation of value.
The consistent application of this principle must therefore be promoted and implemented in internal and external projects and programmes, as well as in the individual conduct of every individual.
Gender Equality: IBL Banca has achieved the Gender Equality Certification in accordance with UI/PdR 125:2022, that certifies the concrete measures implemented to enhance gender diversity, protect equal opportunities within the company staff, promote an inclusive work environment.
Qualitative and quantitative indicators related to 6 areas considered strategic and distinctive of an organization respectful of gender equality were examined: corporate culture and strategy, governance, human resources management processes, opportunities for growth and inclusion of women, gender pay equity, protection of parenthood and work-life balance. The analysis also involved the bank’s staff on a sample basis through interviews.
In particular, IBL Banca’s strengths identified in the audit certification include: corporate culture, work-life balance programs and processes regulating inclusion and respect for diversity.
We are committed to ensuring gender balance, including at salary level, for all roles and for all company levels. We focus on merit and skills, opposing all forms of prejudice and discrimination.
As illustrated in the chart below, the wage gap between women and men has gradually narrowed over the years, until reaching a result where women's wages are aligned with men's wages for employees and managers.
The IBL Banca Banking Group strongly supports the importance of a corporate culture free from any form of discrimination. It promotes the enhancement of diversity and monitors the risk that an intimidating or hostile work environment may be generated or fostered.
We have adhered to the ABI Charter “Women in Bank”. Promoted by ABI, the Italian Banking Association, the Charter aims to enhance gender diversity in the banking sector. This further confirms our attention to adopt policies inspired by principles of equal opportunities and our commitment to promote an inclusive and open working environment to values of diversity as well to promote gender equality and develop female talent.
Purposes and principles of the ABI Charter:
- Constantly promote a working environment that is inclusive and open to the values of diversity, including gender-related;
- Strengthen selection and development methods suitable for promoting equal gender opportunities throughout the company organisation, also in order to bring out qualified female candidates if they are lacking;
- Spread the full and effective participation of women with particular reference to the highest positions, in a company environment geared at all levels towards equal role opportunities and equal treatment;
- Commit to promoting gender equality also outside the bank and for the benefit of the reference communities;
- Implement appropriate initiatives to guide and enhance its company policies on gender equality – also by means of testimonials and awareness-raising activities on the motivations and expected benefits – under the responsibility of senior figures.
